CFU Spanish Center
Faculty
The Spanish
Center Faculty consists of a group of professionals who come from a
wide range of Spanish-speaking countries. We also have some highly qualified
non-native speakers with extensive experience traveling and studying
in Spanish speaking countries. Our students enjoy the variety of accents,
perspectives and teaching styles that our faculty offers.
María
Bansch, an Argentine, studied education at the Universidad de Buenos
Aires. She was a teacher and principal in the schools there. She has
taught adults at Arapahoe Community College for the last six years.
Diego Cerón, a native of Colombia with a degree in Literature,
has been a Spanish and Literature professor, as well as a teacher in
the Denver Public School system. He has also collaborated with various
cultural publications.
Nina Colburn lived and worked in Mexico City for over 30 years
working at the U.S. Trade Office, the U.S. Embassy and other international
corporations in Mexico. Nina is 100% bi-lingual and bi-cultural and
brings a lifetime of experience in teaching not only the Spanish language,
but also in mediating, arbitrating and solving cross-cultural issues
affecting the workplace.
Maryan Gómez, a native of Venezuela, studied law at the
Universidad Santa María in Caracas.
Tim Mason has a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Northern
Iowa. He has been teaching Spanish since 1974. He was the recipient
of the Spanish award for Outstanding Teacher of Foreign Languages in
2001 by the University of Northern Colorado.
Gina Martínez, from México, is a bilingual Kindergarten
teacher in the Jefferson County Public Schools. She also teaches Mexican
folk dance and flamenco.
Miguel Navarro, a native of Perú, has a B.S. in communications
from the Universidad de Lima. He has taught both Spanish and music in
Perú. He works as web designer for Translation Links.
Gladys Preston, from Colombia, has tutored Spanish to business
professionals, and worked for ten years as a bilingual court interpreter
and administrator with the Arapahoe County District Attorney's Office.
Lilia Selenke, born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, studied and worked
at the Universidad de Guadalajara. Tutored adults in Spanish at the
school's Centro de Estudios para Extranjeros.
Bill Weller served as Program Assistant for the CIEE Study Abroad
Program at the University of Seville in Spain. He also teaches in the
English Language Acquisition program with Denver Public Schools.
