I began studying Spanish in 2000 when I took Spanish I through Colorado Free University. I am quite comfortable conversing in Spanish now and I still have not taken a single class at a formal University! I have become an advanced student by taking the entire series of classes through CFU, spending a month studying in Costa Rica, by seeking out native speakers to converse with and by listening to Spanish-language radio and watching Spanish-language television. I also highly recommend participating in the Immersion Weekends. They are really great!

Almost all of the teachers in CFU’s Spanish program are native speakers, which is so wonderful because when you are learning a new language, you want to be hearing and learning a good accent. I just think that this is invaluable. The teachers are also fun and interesting and it is evident that they really enjoy teaching. If you have some motivation and seek out opportunities to listen to and converse in Spanish outside of class, you too can learn to speak Spanish through CFU’s program! I definitely recommend it!

My interest in Spanish began a few years back when I traveled to Mexico and Costa Rica for some vacations. I started taking the beginning level Spanish classes at CFU a couple of years ago and now have taken almost all of their Spanish classes. I found myself learning Spanish but also having fun at the same time. One of the great things about CFU's classes is the ample opportunity to converse in Spanish. The class sizes are small and the excellent teachers are all very personable and engage the students. Most of the teachers are native speakers from a variety of Spanish speaking countries, which to me was very helpful to learn to understand and speak correctly.

One of the very good classes that CFU offers is the Spanish immersion weekend, which in addition to immersion, provides a variety of classes, games and activities which improve your Spanish from several different angles. I have attended several of these immersion weekends and I feel like my Spanish has improved more rapidly because of them.

With the CFU Spanish classes and some study time on my own, I have progressed to be an advanced level student, so as you can see, I recommend Spanish classes at CFU as a great way to learn Spanish.
